The M&C Panel has been funded in part, under by two important programs, from 2009 until 2012. This funding allowed the Panel to regularly meet and discuss new approaches to fisheries monitoring and compliance, to assist in policy formulation, to undertake ‘on-the’water’ discussions (see Our Work) and training and to report out on progress to interested parties and funders.
Through the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada Pacific Region, the “Pacific Integrated Commercial Fisheries Initiative” or PICFI is a Federal program that is scheduled to sunset in 2012.
Under the Living Rivers Trust the BC Fraser Salmon and Watersheds Program also provided financial support to the M&C Panel.
Significantly, all of the participating organizations and agencies with Panel members provided in-kind support through contributions of their time and in many cases, their travel costs.
